Hi, I’m Carly!
I started IX Shoes LLC because I was fed up with my business-casual footwear options. I felt like the soles of my flats wore out easily and looked ‘fresh’ for just a few wears, regardless of how much they cost! Plus, I felt like flats weren’t supportive as I walked through airports and manufacturing plants several times a week. I needed better and decided to take matters into my own hands. By teaming up with a couple footwear experts over the past three years, I’ve overcome the hurdles of being an industry outsider. We are officially manufacturing Nines in Manhattan. As you can imagine, Coronavirus has added an extra level of unpredictability to our factory’s timeline, but we are hoping for an October 2020 launch.
So where does the name IX Shoes, aka Nines come from? Well, my mom taught me about Title IX when I was just a kid…“like literally” a 9 year old. She stressed the importance of equal opportunities in education and understanding the ever-evolving story of equal rights. She also encouraged us to try every sport, hobby, and activity to explore our interests and talents (or lack thereof). Nines represent that go-getter spirit for working women.
So cheers to the ladies on their feet: healthcare professionals, flight attendants, rental car booth workers, engineers, consultants, mothers, retail warriors and educators. We’ve come this far in our tattered flats, fraying heels, and dingy tennis shoes, so I can’t wait to see what we do in Nines.
Namaste,
Carly Haller
